MGMA Academic Practice Compensation and Production Survey for Faculty & Management
Medical Group Management Association

Please note: When purchasing MGMA annual surveys, please pay attention to the publication dates. MGMA normally collects data from one year, names the survey for the following year, and publishes the data midway through, or at the end of the third year. Therefore, for example, a 2008 survey, based on 2007 data, but published in early 2009 will be useable throughout 2010, a 2009 survey with 2008 data published in early 2010 will be useable through 2011, and so on. The following surveys are the most current surveys available at this time.

Academic practices face different challenges than private group practices.

The Academic Practice Compensation and Production Survey for Faculty & Management brings critical, detailed information, helping practices assess the essential links between pay and performance.

Your physicians are spending time with patients as well as teaching students and residents and conducting research. Your production data does not compare well with private practices. And your compensation structures are also distinct. That is why you need to compare your data with more relevant benchmarks to those of other academic practices.

With concurrent patient care, research and teaching challenges, academic practices are distinct. That’s why MGMA compiles highly specialized surveys that enable relevant comparisons across key measures. This annual report:

  • Helps you analyze critical pay-performance relationships

  • Helps you benchmark

  • Gives you broad data for physician and nonphysician faculty and management

  • Gives you a valuable resource for continued success in a complex workplace.

You may view these samples: table of contents, overview and sample pages. MGMA put it together with:

  • Complete data on more than 15,000 faculty physicians and nonphysician providers and over 1,800 managers in more than 500 medical departments

  • Data categorized by specialty, rank, geographic region and more

  • Management compensation by department and individual characteristics

  • Key practice plan performance indicators

You put it to use and:

  • Evaluate the performance of individual faculty physicians and nonphysician providers

  • Develop compensation and production targets for your providers and managers

  • Assess your compensation methods for compliance

MGMAs annual Academic Practice Compensation and Production Survey for Faculty and Management Report helps you analyze critical relationships between compensation and performance; provides broad data that encompass physician and nonphysician faculty and management; and gives you a valuable resource for continued success in an increasingly complex workplace. By simultaneously focusing on the quality and efficiency of care, you can make confident decisions that positively boost academic practice performance.
