Capital Campaigns remains the authoritative work on developing plans, strategies, and tactics that will raise funds for capital projects. It details proven methods of preparing for, launching, and completing a successful project.

One of the best selling books in its series, Capital Campaigns: Strategies that Work has served as a guide for campaigns of all sizes and configurations from small start-ups to colleges and universities.

This book is a practical, hands-on guide to capital campaigns. It covers the field in its entirety and provides a useful, friendly, well-organized resource for novices and experienced professionals alike. It has become a standard reference on this topic. It outlines step by step what you need to know to conduct a capital campaign and gets the point across with real life stories about campaigns.

Charts, check-lists, timetables, budgets, and worksheets provide formats and samples that the reader can use or adapt for her campaign. This reference has also been updated to reflect the most recent trends in capital campaigns and now includes a CD-ROM full of reference material.

Step-by-step instructions and case studies will help make your campaign run smoothly by outlining the entire process from start to finish.

This book also discusses new techniques required to successfully connect with your donors, including using e-mail, the Internet, telephone solicitations, clubs, and much more. This book includes these discussions:

  • Is Your Organization Ready for a Capital Campaign?

  • The Capital Campaign Team

  • Why Give? Building the Case

  • Can the Project Be Done? Conducting a Feasibility Study

  • Who's Who? A Guide to Prospect Research

  • Planning the Campaign

  • Asking for Major Gifts: Person to Person

  • Special Events and the Capital Campaign

  • Campaign Image and Marketing

  • Practicing the Discipline of Gratitude

  • Staff--The Unsung Heroes of Every Campaign

  • It's a Wrap

  • Appendix: A Troubleshooting Guide to Capital Campaigns

In addition, this edition expands on the importance of tracking givers and shows you how to conduct successful Internet-based research, how to use databases to their fullest potential, and how to hire the appropriate outside consultants.
