Jeffrey Blander; Bryan Bergeron, MD

Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society
August 2004
Price: $55.00

There are few things more difficult than gaining support for new clinical information systems within a healthcare organization.

It doesn't have to be that way. Jeffrey Blander and Bryan P. Bergeron, MD, have written this book as a guide for CIOs, MDs and COOs who want to avoid unnecessary delays during the clinical software deployment process.

Using case driven examples and “day-in-the-life” scenarios, the authors give readers lessons in avoiding the pitfalls of creating a “push through“ strategy while deploying a new healthcare systems application.

Recommended by HIMSS, this practical and illuminating book offers tools and presents processes that help define expectations and manage relationships between deployment staff and the end users of a system.

Bryan Bergeron, MD, practices medical informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and he teaches in the Health Sciences and Technology Division of Harvard Medical School and MIT. Dr. Bergeron is the president of Archetype Technologies, Inc., a technology-consulting firm. He speaks internationally to business leaders on a variety of technology and business issues. He is a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics and the author of 15 books and hundreds of articles on biotechnology, business and technology.

Jeffrey Blander is a recognized leader in designing and developing clinical outcomes and applied research information management systems. He has worked extensively in interfacing academic and commercial investigators to help implement IT solutions to support drug discovery, clinical genomics research, and regulatory approval processes within the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is a partner in The Pion Group, a consulting practice specializing in clinical knowledge solutions.

HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems for the betterment of human health. Founded in 1961 with offices in Chicago, Washington D.C., and other locations across the country, HIMSS frames and leads healthcare public policy and industry practices through its advocacy, educational and professional development initiatives designed to promote information and management systems' contributions to ensuring quality patient care.
