The Coding Guides from PMIC are the ultimate coding reference for your medical specialty. (These were previously titled Codelink and later CPT Easy Links)

Starting with a comprehensive introduction to CPT and ICD-9-CM coding, each Coding Guide includes a glossary of coding and billing terminology, correct coding requirements, and documentation guidelines, followed by CPT codes for the specialty with ICD-9-CM code links, and third party payer guidelines. The selection of CPT codes and ICD-9-CM links included in each Coding Guide are based on a computer analysis of over 188 million actual health insurance claims submitted to third party payers.

You may view a sample of a Coding Guide book here. The analysis program for the Coding Guides is designed and supervised by PMIC's in-house medical staff and coding experts so that only statistically reliable data are included. Each Coding Guide includes:

  • Comprehensive introduction to CPT ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS coding

  • Glossary of coding and billing terminology

  • Correct Coding Requirements for your specialty

  • Documentation Guidelines

  • CPT codes for the selected specialty with linkages to ICD-9-CM codes

  • CPT codes with full descriptions for your medical specialty

  • Medicare policies affecting code usage

  • HCPCS codes and descriptions for common supplies, materials and injections

  • Medicare edits including relative values (RVU) specific to your specialty

  • Relative value data and post-op days

  • CCI exclusion codes

  • Complete CCI edits with modifier indicators

  • Coding tips and notes

  • Earn CEUs from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

PMIC's Coding Guides are available for the following specialties:

PMIC was founded in 1986. By 1989, from a humble one-book beginning, PMIC became the nation's leading independent publisher and value-added reseller of medical coding, reimbursement and practice management books with a reputation for quality, service and value. Coding and compliance information changes constantly and it is PMIC's goal to keep up with it so you don't have to. You can trust PMIC to provide you with books that contain the most complete, current, accurate and "official" information available. While these books win a lot of awards, what is more important to us is that our customers love them. That's because PMIC considers their books as "tools" and their staff spend a lot of time thinking about how, when and where our customers will use these products. You can order with confidence, knowing that you will always receive the best, most innovative books available. Because of the industry standard features PMIC introduced to this market, such as spiral binding, thumb-indexing, enhanced color-coding and compact sizing, these publications represent exceptional values to our customers.

Please remember that the government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets. The new HIPAA Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January 1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code books early. Review current coding resources.
