James A. Johnson, PhD is a medical social scientist and a Professor in the Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University and Adjunct Professor at Auburn University-Montgomery. He was previously Chair of the Department of Health Administration and Policy at the Medical University of South Carolina. He teaches courses in organizational behavior and development, international health, systems thinking, and community health. Dr. Johnson's publications include 100 articles and 10 books on a wide range of health care issues. He is past editor of the Journal of Healthcare Management published by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and past editor of the Journal of Management Practice. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and currently serves on the scientific advisory board of the National Diabetes Trust Foundation. Dr Johnson has traveled to and worked in 21 different countries. He also works with the World Health Organization in Geneva , Switzerland and has involved many students in this activity. He completed his PhD in organizational behavior and development at Florida State University.
