This is the most inclusive global billing guide for orthopedic practices.

Edited by the AAOS Committee on CPT and ICD Coding and recommended by the AMA, this is a fast, accurate office guide.

It is absolutely the most complete and thorough global billing guide for orthopaedic practices available. New musculoskeletal CPT codes are added each year, resulting in numerous new and revised orthopaedic global billing packages.

These two volumes are organized into sections by anatomy for easy code lookup. A full page is devoted to each CPT code and includes Medicare global fee periods, "add-on" codes, and "modifier -51 exempt" codes.

Avoid costly miscommunications with providers and returned claims. This easy-to-use guide details inclusions and exclusions for more than 1,500 musculoskeletal procedures. It provides examples, updated descriptors, generic code inclusions and exclusions, and much more.

  • Updated and enhanced - explains the changes to generic code inclusions and exclusions, provides examples, updated descriptors and much more
  • Summarizes changes and updates for your convenience - new CPT codes and global packages, and revised CPT codes and global packages are summarized at the front of each volume for your convenience

These books are updated annually by the AAOS. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons provides education and practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals. The Academy also serves as an advocate for improved patient care and informs the public about the science of orthopaedics. Founded at Northwestern University as a not-for-profit organization in 1933, the Academy has grown from a small organization serving less than 500 members to the world's largest medical association of musculoskeletal specialists. The Academy now serves about 24,000 members internationally.

Please remember that the government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets. The new HIPAA Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January 1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code books early. Review current coding resources.
