Which version
of CPT Assistant Archives should you buy?
First, a note about dates. The
edition published this year always has last year's date on it.
For example, the
"2008" editions come out in 2009. So, you can
expect the 2007 editions to be available only in 2008, the 2008
editions in 2009 and so on. Therefore, the editions listed on
this page are the most current ones available.
Second, a note about full software vs. update for one year
only: CPT
Assistant Archives 1990-2007 contains
complete software. Powered
by a high-speed search engine, this user-friendly software
is more than just an electronic version of the archived issues of
the CPT
Assistant newsletters. This disk includes menu
screens, a cumulative index of article titles and a complete
historical CPT list, including when a code was
added, deleted and/or revised. In coming years, you will only
need to purchase updates for this software, at reduced prices.
Third, what do these CDs contain?CPT Assistant Archives
2007 Update contains every issue of CPT Assistant published in 2007, and loads directly with your current 1990-2006 software. You
must have CPT Assistant Archives 1990-2005 or CPT Assistant Archives 1990-2006 software to run these
updates. If you do not already own the software edition, a single
year update is not for you. Choose instead the
software option so you can have all
of the years of information plus the software.
How many networked users do you
have? Choose your version of the
full-software
or the updates according to how many staff will actually need to access this
software. All CD-ROMs come in 3 versions - for 1 user, for 2 to 5
users, or for 6 to 10 users.

Please also remember that the
government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets.
The new HIPAA
Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national
medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is
provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each
year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January
1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the
revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the
implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code
books early.
