Stay in compliance with the hundreds of code changes each year with the AMA's official coding resource for procedural codes, rules, and guidelines. Inside this "must have" reference you'll find:

  • More than 750 code, guideline, and text changes with major changes to Radiology Procedures, Central Auditory Function, Pathology and Laboratory, Digestive System, and Transplantation.

  • E/M Express Reference Tables. A quick reference guide that provides a side-by-side comparison of E/M codes in a CPT section. Easy to use, each table summarizes the requirements for reporting E/M services and helps the user select and validate proper E/M coding

  • All codes and modifiers for the current year. All the official codes and modifiers for the upcoming year.

  • New appendices cover summary of CPT codes exempt from Modifier 63, summary of CPT codes which include Conscious Sedation, alphabetic index of Performance Measures by Clinical Condition or Topic, and Genetic Testing code modifiers.

  • Summary of additions, deletions, and revisions in Appendix B. Provides a quick reference to this year's changes without having to refer to previous editions.

  • Official CPT coding rules and guidelines. Necessary to interpret and report medical procedures and services.

  • Place of Service codes with facility name and description. Used on professional claims to specify the entity where services are rendered.

  • Inclusion of CPT Assistant citations for modifiers (Appendix A)

  • Color-bleed bars and thumb-notch tabs to help you quickly locate code sections. Makes finding and understanding CPT codes easier by identifying section headings, coding changes and coding alerts.

  • Procedural and anatomical illustrations. Illustrated to help the user understand rules and procedures.

  • Reference icon to AMA’s CD Changes: Book Edition.

  • Sample cases. Learn how to use and assign the codes.

  • Required for certification testing. The AAPC and AHIMA require applicants to use the CPT® Professional or Standard.

The CD-ROM Edition of CPT Professional provides the entire book format on your computer. CPT Electronic Professional is the quickest way to search, evaluate and assign CPT codes. This software contains all of your favorite CPT Professional features you've grown to trust, in an easy-to-use, fully searchable format. Save countless hours looking up CPT codes and feel more confident when you code. You can access the entire CPT Professional Edition codebook on your computer desktop, along with special advantages that only digital copies can provide. With the CD-ROM software included in the Electronic Edition of CPT Professional, you can take advantage of:

  • Simple access to the information you need by clicking through the table of contents or searching directly by code or key word.

  • Frank Netter anatomical illustrations - CPT codes are linked to detailed, true-to-life Frank Netter illustrations - a combination that provides complete, visual understanding of the anatomic structures described within CPT codes.

  • Instant quick linking between CPT codes, guidelines, modifiers, appendices and the index.

  • Advanced searches: Use the intuitive advanced query function for more advanced searches - you get effortless information searches at the click of a mouse. You can search by CPT code, keyword or phrase.

  • CD-ROM interfaces perfectly with the newest CPT Changes CD-ROM

You may view sample pages of a previous year's edition of the spiral edition here.

Please remember: The government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets. The new HIPAA Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January 1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code books early. Review current coding resources.
