This is a "must read" for any organization considering the journey, especially those about to send in their application and fee.

In practical, easy-to-understand language, this book will help you identify and assess the return on investment (ROI) of designation, and communicate this information to the executives in your facility.

The road to designation is a challenge—learning how to meet the program’s new expectations doesn’t have to be. Achieving ANCC Magnet Recognition Program designation—and redesignation—has always been a challenge. And now, the ANCC has released a new manual that restructures the 14 Forces of Magnetism around 5 Model Components, and places more emphasis on nursing research and patient outcomes. This restructuring creates new criteria for achieving and maintaining nursing’s highest honor. This book includes:

  • A chapter that outlines a brief history of the program and a summary of research and key findings conducted over the past 10 years that show the effect ANCC Magnet Recognition® status has on an organization

  • Effective ways to communicate to staff the desire to achieve designation

  • A rundown of the direct and optional costs associated with pursuing designation

  • Sample project timelines for designation and redesignation

  • Easy-to-understand definitions of the 14 Forces of Magnetism and real-life, practical examples—from the author and project directors from around the country—of how organizations exemplify the Forces

  • Tools to conduct a gap analysis to assess your organization’s readiness to pursue designation

  • A chapter of best practices and lessons learned from designated organizations and those on the journey

  • A crosswalk between the Forces of Magnetism and The Joint Commission standards

Numerous published studies have demonstrated that ANCC Magnet Recognition Program - designated facilities have better patient outcomes. They also report better nurse to patient ratios, as well as a higher percentage of certified nurses and BSN-prepared nurses.

Don’t waste your time and resources trying to interpret the new guidelines.

Whether you’re pursuing designation or working toward redesignation, begin your journey immediately with this Guide to Assessing, Pursuing, and Achieving Excellence in the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program. This updated book breaks down the program’s complicated guidelines and brings you up-to-date on the new expectations so you can:
