With additional standards now required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, practitioners must go through even more preparation for accreditation in order to successfully demonstrate competency in patient care, governance, life safety code and human resource management.
Human Resource Management for Healthcare Professionals provides complete coverage of relevant human resource issues for JCAHO, as well as offering a solid foundation in both HR and health care administrative practices. The relevant examples and applications included serve as excellent reference tools for healthcare organizations seeking JCAHO certification.
Written for the healthcare manager, supervisor or any health care professional with significant HR responsibilities, this book provides a comprehensive, focused approach to the demands of the current human resources role.
The unique aspects of healthcare HRM generate a demand for a focused, specialized text.
This book is relevant to instructors in traditional academic settings as well as to practitioners, consultants and other managerial professionals in various healthcare settings like hospitals, nursing homes, physical therapy and long-term rehabilitation facilities, the military and even companies and organizations that are peripheral to those in healthcare settings such as the pharmaceutical industry and government agencies. Given the changeable context of the healthcare industry, there is a continuous need for current, topical information on healthcare management. This text is the only one of its kind and its potential will become more fully realized with the publication of the second edition.
Chapters cover job design and analysis, legal issues, safety, training, employee relations, healthcare compensation practices, recruitment, and the challenges facing healthcare management today.
