This book provides the entire ICD-10-PCS code set, which is expected to replace the current ICD-9-CM system (Volume 3, Procedures) for medical documentation and reporting of inpatient procedures and services under HIPAA regulations. To be fully prepared, facilities can learn about ICD-10-PCS now with this ICD-10-PCS preview book, detailing much about the new coding system.

If facilities do not begin to prepare now, they may cost themselves in the long run. By creating internal ICD-10 experts, facilities will be many steps ahead of the game when it’s time to train coders. ICD-10-PCS: Preview of the Structure and Conventions of ICD-10-PCS can assist you in developing that expertise.

  • Full draft of ICD-10-PCS code set including detailed information about the structure and conventions of the new coding system. The format looks much like an ICD-10-PCS code book will look under the new system.
  • Provides information about the development of the code set and the current status of ICD-10-PCS.
  • Easy-to-understand table format assists coders in choosing the correct code the first time. By seeing the tables in print, coders will be able to understand the logic behind the code set.
  • Get a jump start on learning ICD-10-PCS. With a well-organized, user-friendly reference, you can learn more about the ICD-10-PCS coding system and how you can implement it in your facility.

Please remember: The government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets. The new HIPAA Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January 1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code books early. Review current coding resources.
