Use this CD-ROM data file to import current year ICD-9-CM codes and descriptions into your billing and claims reporting software. Features of these CD-ROMs include:
This CD-ROM contains all up-to-date official ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes,
a change indicator field to indicate whether a code is new or
revised and a code status field to indicate whether a code requires
an additional fourth and/or fifth digit. With your CD-ROM data files, you will also receive the book - one copy of the book, AMA ICD-9-CM, is included with the purchase of this data file on CD-ROM. Note: This data file is provided in an ascii, tab-delimited file format and a fixed-field format and can be used in any database, spreadsheet, or other application that accepts a text (TXT) file format. Please keep in mind that this data file is not software. Please check with your data processing professional to ensure compatibility with your existing billing or claims reporting software. Please Remember: The government no longer allows a grace period for annual code sets. The new HIPAA Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January 1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the implementation dates.
