A former member of the national board of directors of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and treasurer and board member of the National Center for Clinical Epidemiology, she now serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Infection Control Network.

Gloria Coleman Morrell, RN, MS, CIC, is the IC specialist at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. She received a bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Florida and a master's degree in Allied Health Sciences from the University of North Florida. To her 19 years of IC experience she adds specialties of nursing including critical care, addictive disease, education, and treatment of the high-risk patient. She is a past president of the Greater Atlanta chapter of APIC and a former member of the Bioterrorism Task Force at the national APIC level.
