Trends also show physician/population ratios for selected years. All data are derived from the American Medical Association Physician Masterfile, which obtains data from primary sources only. The stringent verification process by the AMA is unique and one of the most thorough in the industry. Primary sources include medical schools, hospitals, medical societies, the National Board of Medical Examiners, state licensing agencies, and many others.
