As if being a new nurse isn’t difficult enough, dealing with difficult patients on a daily basis takes the worry and stress to another level. A sound understanding of what makes patients difficult, coupled with strategies to diffuse dangerous situations, can help reduce your stress.

Learn best practices for dealing with angry, frustrated, and even violent patients and families with the help of Stressed Out About Difficult Patients.

The phrase “difficult patients” covers a wide range of individuals. It includes those with psychiatric disorders (depression, dementia, etc.), and those who are simply angry about being in a hospital. Nurses, of course, have to deal with both types, and need the ability to relate to and understand these patients. This essential text will provide you with:

  • A foundation of why patients act the way they do

  • Practical tools and strategies for handling topics from anger and schizophrenia, to violence and suicide

  • Real-life examples of difficult patients that you can relate to

  • Tips on how to care for the most challenging patient—yourself

Easy to read, with fun, eye-catching icons that help break up the text and serve as reference points, Stressed Out About Difficult Patients provides practical, real world tips you can put to immediate use. Start eliminating unneeded job stress and begin to feel more comfortable with your difficult patients.
