This book contains all the necessary content to pass the CPC
exam. It includes all the content information for the exam AND two
full practice exams with answers and rationales. Using a general
outline format, the text covers Anatomy, Terminology, and Pathophysiology for each body area, Reimbursement Issues, and an
overview of CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS Coding. It also includes a
bound-in CD-ROM with a practice pre-text exam modeled after the
actual AAPC CPC certification exam along with final exam. In an easy-to-follow, general outline format, this review focuses
on passing the CPC coding certification exam. It has been
completely updated for the current year and covers anatomy and terminology for
each body area, reimbursement issues including data quality, and an
overview of CPT, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS Coding, the health insurance
claim form, and case discussions. The accompanying CD-ROM contains a timed, scored,
practice exam that is modeled on the actual certification exams and
is designed to be taken twice — once as a pre-test and once as a
post-test. An additional final exam is given as a capstone to the

The new HIPAA
Transaction and Code Set Rule requires providers to use national
medical code sets that are valid at the time that a service is
provided. ICD-9-CM code revisions become effective October 1st each
year while CPT and HCPCS code revisions become effective January
1st. In order for you to meet this requirement, you must have the
revised CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM codes in your possession before the
implementation dates. The best way to do this is to order your code
books early.
