Every practicing physician, physician executive and practice manager should have this book in easy reach.

This reference manual and guidebook is written in an extremely readable, concise format. The Biggest Legal Mistakes Physicians Make and How to Avoid Them is an essential, easy to use desk reference that helps physicians avoid a myriad of hidden legal pitfalls. Features of this book include:

  • Comprehensive - Features 120 sections highlighting over 1,200 costly, yet avoidable, legal errors and omissions physicians frequently make.
  • Easy to read - Each section contains an executive summary, 10 biggest mistakes & 10 concise action steps which show how to avoid them.
  • Understandable, bottom-line information - Each section has been specially written for a physician-reader in simple, understandable language, not "legalese."
  • Well indexed - Contains a detailed index with more than 1,600 terms, so you can quickly find what you need.
  • Authoritative - Sections written by many of the nation's premiere lawyers representing physicians.
  • Physician specific - The legal issues addressed are specific to the unique legal problems physicians face including: Stark, legal structuring of practices, HIPAA, licensing, malpractice, certificates of need, billing audits, peer review, hospital relations, OIG investigations, employment contracts, covenants not to compete, and much, much more.

Recommended by the AMA, this book clearly flags over 1,200 of the costliest legal errors physicians make. Adding this book to your library is like having your own personal lawyer, experienced in representing physicians, on retainer to answer questions, 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

  • Avoid lawsuits and unnecessary legal errors.
  • Get quickly up to speed on liability and compliance issues before making mistakes.
  • Be proactive and reduce future risks.
  • Become more aware of potential liabilities
  • Increase your knowledge, confidence and ability in dealing with lawyers, regulatory and legal issues.

“This comprehensive resource addresses important legal issues that face physicians in a medical practice today. Concise, well organized, and peer reviewed, this one-of-a-kind original text is an essential guide written by specialized attorneys to help physicians take proper legal actions inside the medical field. It would be a mistake not to have this book in every medical office in America.” - Michael Heard, M.D., Endocrinology, Augusta, GA

“This well-written and comprehensive medicolegal reference is both therapeutic and prophylactic.  It can not only help get the physician-reader out of legal trouble, but more importantly, prevent such problems before they occur.” - Charles N. Brooks, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, Bellevue, WA
