Following a national search, in April, 2005, Kent Bottles, M.D. was appointed as Editor-in-Chief for The Journal of Medical Practice Management. Dr. Bottles is President and CEO of the Grand Rapids Medical Education & Research Center for Health Professionals, Professor of Health Professions and Vice Provost for Health at Grand Valley State University, and Professor and Assistant Dean, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Bottles is an accomplished author, healthcare futurist, keynote speaker, and healthcare consultant who has held leadership positions in academic medicine and in biotechnology. Dr. Bottles is perhaps best known for his provocative keynote speeches and articles on a variety of topics including disruptive technologies, the future of medicine, leadership tactics for uncertain environments, and how chaos theory can inform managers. Dr. Marcel Frenkel, the founder of The Journal of Medical Practice Management, was a graduate of The University of Chicago School of Medicine and the first physician to obtain a Masters degree from the University of Chicago's School of Business. Dr. Frenkel is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and currently maintains an active private practice in downtown Chicago as well as being a Clinical Associate in the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Chicago. He has served as Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of Cook County Hospital, President of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society, Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and many medical boards. The Journal of Medical Practice Management has been published since 1984, originally by Williams & Wilkins. Greenbranch Publishing, LLC, with headquarters in Phoenix, Maryland, is a leading publisher of medical practice management titles, electronic media, and audio conferences for physicians, practice administrators and medical practice managers. Nancy Collins founded Greenbranch Publishing and purchased The Journal in 1999. Ms. Collins has been in publishing for nearly 25 years, and from 1985 to 1998 she was with Williams & Wilkins as Vice-President, and in fact, the publisher of record for this Journal since 1989.
